This was my first elk camp experience and it could have not been better. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the logging roads in the area and always put us in a good spot. We were several days into the season so the elk were in hiding mode. However, I learned a lot about elk hunting techniques in ID. The camp accommodations were excellent. We enjoyed a new cabin with a most comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner were like going to Grandma’s home cooking. Lunch fixing were also provided at the end of breakfast. It was 6 degrees when we arrived but our welcome was warm. This was my husband’s third time at Shattuck Creek Outfitters so he knew Amon & Barbara we’ll. I am 67 years old, and I hope to hunt here again; we will just come earlier in the season to increase our chances. I will always hold my Shattuck Creek experience…

We were looking for the whole adventure when we booked the hunt. Well, it was truly the adventure we were looking for at Shattuck Creek Outfitters.. Had an unbelievable time! Slept at outpost camp, rode horses, quads, ate amazing meals, and the scenery was awesome. Saw or heard elk almost everyday and even shot a huge trophy 6×6! Unfortunately, seems like I got only 1 lung and was unable to find the animal after endless searching of Amon and his son. This was a great hunt and experience! Highly recommend Shattuck Creek Outfitters with Amon and his staff. You will have a great time! I will be going back to close the deal on that archery elk at Shattuck Creek Outfitters. And oh ya, there are elk in Idaho…..

After 20 years of applying in my home state of Idaho I finally drew a shiras moose tag in the northern part of the state. Realizing that I would benefit greatly from having a guide, I began the search which rapidly pointed me to Shattuck Creek and Amon Molsee. I have had opportunities to hunt with many guiding services in the USA and world wide and thus have a lot to compare to. From the very beginning, Amon presented himself and his fellow guides as being totally committed to my quest for a once in a lifetime moose. I have never seen a group work so diligently as they did in helping me accomplish that goal. Also to Amon’s credit was his uncanny talent in calling in a large alpha male wolf that I had the privilege of harvesting. True icing on the cake! 5/5. Our party had never been elk-hunting before, so we didn’t really know what to expect. Despite some rough weather, we had a phenomenal time. The guides were all very friendly and highly knowledgeable, and we wound up leaving with two punched elk tags (including a 6×6 Bull) and a deer tag, and saw several moose and even a cougar. Would definitely recommend… but if we were to go back, we’d probably do more preparatory physical conditioning, since successful hunting in the area seems heavily predicated on being able to climb up and down some steep slopes at altitude. If you’ve got the money, it’s absolutely worth it. Great team, beautiful area, and the cook is top-notch.

I recently completed my second cougar hunt with Amon. We covered miles of beautiful wilderness that Amon has the hunting rights to. Given the hilly terrain and snow conditions, this was a challenging and physically demanding hunt. Without a doubt, Amon is one of the hardest working outfitters I have hunted with. He was prepared for whatever conditions we met and had a very comfortable remote camp set up for us. After getting my cougar, we returned to Amon’s home where we enjoyed delicious home cooked meals with his family. I would highly recommend Shattuck Creek Outfitters for any hunter who serious about going on a cougar hunt.

I have hunted with Amon and Shattuck Creek Outfitters twice and both times I have gotten a bear. If you are a true hunter who enjoys learning about bear hunting this is the hunt for you. Amon and his team are top notch hunting professionals. They work diligently to give everyone an equal opportunity to harvest a bear. The Elk River area is one of the most if not the most beautiful place I have ever hunted. I am hunting with Amon in September 2023 for Elk. I am sure it will be another awesome adventure. C. Brown

As an avid archery hunter it is even more important to work with an outfitter who is willing and able to go above and beyond. Amon and his guides have always understood the challenges of getting close to game. The extra effort is always on full display when I am at Shattuck Creek. Successful archery elk and archery cougar hunts have provided lasting memories/mounts but are not outdone by the experiences and friendships formed. Constantly planning my next opportunity to get back out in the mountains of Idaho with the first rate people at Shattuck Creek Outfitters.

Just got back from a 7 day Elk rifle hunt with Amon.. On our first day my partner Mark L got a nice 5 by 5 Bull. Another fellow from Vermont scored on a spike bull. Amon was my guide for the entire week and since I’m handicapped he went out of his way to help me get into a blind and back to the lodge safely. I did not see any elk until my last day we saw several cows over 500 yds away. During my week with Amon I rode side by sides, 4 wheelers to my hunting grounds saw many white tail deer, watched full scale logging operations and some beautiful mountain scenery of Idaho. The home cooked meals back at the lodge I cannot say enough about. Just awesome!!! Overall we had a great week. Amon and family are gracious host provided very comfortable accommodations. I just got back from a great week with Amon and his team on a two-bear remote wilderness hunt. Amon and his crew worked really hard to make sure we were comfortable, well fed and taken care of, and had opportunities to get a bear. I was fortunate enough to take a bear, but not everyone did. Nobody complained and all saw bears. We were in a beautiful location where few get to go, with a warm fire and hot coffee always available. Deer, elk, goat, and moose where seen in addition to the bear, and wolves could be heard at night. I can’t recommend Shattuck Creek Outfitters highly enough and will hunt with them again God willing.

I have been bow hunting for many year and my main goal is to just get a change. I hunted elk with Amon the 2017 fall season the weather was changing and the elk were starting to answer our calls. On day four we had two encounters both at one point less than 25 yards the second I was able to get a clean shot at 50 yards a nice 5×5. Amon knows what he’s doing and if you are in shape and willing to put in the time to practice you will probably have the same opportunity I did or better. By the way he has horses to pack the elk out and the food was great.
