Shiras Moose Hunts

Weighing up to 1000 pounds, the Shiras Moose is one of North America's largest game animals. Preferring to hide in clearcuts and areas of regeneration, this impressive animal has massive antlers and is the ultimate game animal.

You'll be staying at one of our hunting lodges, enjoying first-class accommodations and homecooked meals. You are free to hunt with a rifle or a bow, the choice is yours. If you have a wolf tag, you'll be able to hunt for wolves on this hunt as well.

We have never sent a hunter home without a moose. While this is not a guarantee, it is a testament to how many successful guided moose hunts we have hosted here at Shattuck Creek.

Moose tags are drawn in a lottery system, and you must draw a tag from Idaho Fish & Game before hunting with us. Visit the Idaho Fish & Game link below to see draw results and application instructions.

About the Shiras Moose

While they are the smaller of the North American moose breeds, the Shiras Moose still weighs in at around half a ton, and boasts wide, impressive antlers. Don't be deceived by their size, this massive animal can run up to 35mph for several minutes.

The Shiras Moose usually prefers to eat woody vegetation like willow, poplar, and birch, stripping the leaves, twigs, and bark. They also feed on aquatic vegetation by swimming in lakes and streams.
